Hello everybody,

I am Adrián from Valencia -Spain- and I am going to arrive in Anversa this monday ! Everything I have so far seen and hear about the place is amazing, so I am very excited. I will try to keep this blog alive by sharing my experiencies here. Have a nice day :-)

Missing Regina and "Volunteering in the Magic II"

Unfortunately everything has an end, and Regina had to leave us and go home… But the great news is that she will return to Italy in a few weeks, at Ispra because she found a job!!! So go ahead Regina, we know you gonna rock, we are all with you and we miss you a little bit here!! See you soon!!

The other good news is that Filipa will stay with us a little longer because she stays the whole summer to work in the botanical garden!

So with Regina’s departure come 2 new volunteers, but for now we had just welcome Susana who arrived on Monday (8^TH of June).

She will now do a presentation of herself:

“Ciao a tutti!!

I’m Susana, I’m from Portugal (Odivelas/Lisboa), I’m 29, I wanted to have an volunteer experience and be integrated on a site of Community importance management’s project. I’ll be integrated on the “Volunteering in the Magic II” “

I’m finding Anversa very beautiful and sunny (eh eh! at the opposite of my mates because now it’s Spring!). People here are very nice, from the eldest to the youngest. Desperately I don’t speak Italian as I thought :D (though I understand it!) but I hope soon I could speak with every one without a problem.

About the Reserve I found it very interesting, with Flora, Vegetation and Fauna important for conservation and with nice tracks (physical stimulating ;) ). I got worried with the presence of acacia (Robinia pseudoacacia) and ailanto (Ailanthos altissima) which are invader plants but there’s a project to eradicate them. Nice!

Presentation of the team : the first volunteers !!!!

Ciao a tutti!!! Hello everyone!!!

Here we are : Filipa, Marie and Regina !! :D
We arrived at Anversa first week of January. It was cold at the beginning, as you can see on the picture !! We had that chance to be the first volunteer for this project "Volunteering in the magic" and to discover by ourselves this wonderful reserve and the little village of Anversa.

Let's start by a quick presentation of ourselves :

-Filipa : I'm from Portugal - Tomar, I'm 29 and I am passionated by Nature! :D
-Marie : I'm from France - Trebeurden, I'm 24 and wanted to work in ecology. ;-)
-Regina : I'm from Portugal - Seia, I'm 24 and I love Geography, GIS and sport ! yeah !!

Let's follow by a little presentation of Anversa :

It's a very very little village, at 600 meters of altitude, it's cold during the winter (we had rain, snow, wind...) and for now we are expecting warmer temperatures. But when the sun comes out, it's a very very beautiful place. In fact, it belongs to the "Most beautiful italian villages".
The first impression we had that it was a small place but with very friendly and welcoming people who made us feel confortable.
Anversa counts 2 coffees, 1 chemistry, 1 bakery, 1 post office, 1 restaurant, 1 pizzeria, 2 mini-markets, 1 tobacco shop, 1 info point and lots of panorama !!

At anversa, we are living in small houses of 2 people totally new! There 4 houses in total, and they are just nearby a square with an incredible view of the reserve. As we were the first, we noticed things that were missing and step by step the problems are being solved.

We wanted to start this blog to share our feelings and experiences about this EVS project, so feel free to ask whatever you want !
